Accommodation and local support
You will spend the first five days in city of Bari, Apulia’s capital city where you can easily reach the train stations for the morning transfers and the airport at the end of the holiday.
The second part of the journey you will stay in the beautiful city of Vieste with its unedendless sandy beach and a small harbour with daily boats to the Tremiti Islands and the marine caves. Vieste is one of the most complete all-in-one South’s destination with a vibrant movida during summer and tranquillity during the rest of the year. Don’t miss to discover the inland on foot or riding a horse. Sports lovers can surf or climb the cliffs of Gargano.
We do know that a mountain bike journey may is not as easy ad road one. That’s why we designed the formula self-guided + local support. Thanks to our two bike-centers in the Gargano (Gargano Cycle Hub, our own base) and in the Alta Murgia (Ciclomurgia, our partner) you will have the assistance always close to you!

Alta Murgia
The first riding day begins with a train transfer to Ruvo di Puglia. You will follow the route to the UNESCO site of Frederick II’s Castel del Monte, on the top of a hill overlooking the Apulian plateau. You’ll have the time to pay a visit to the castle, then you will follow a track beginning just at the feet of the mount riding past drystone walls and olive trees to the city of Trani, a pearl on the Adriatic coast. You can chill out in front of the charming romanique cathedral of Trani before taking the train to Bari.
The second riding day begins with a train transfer to Pescariello, a small station in the middle of the Alta Murgia halfway from Bari and Matera. Imagine a endless plateau and a trail ending at the horizon! That’s the Alta Murgia. Bike past sheep tracks and follow the footsteps of the Roman Way until the bridge Gravina.
Itria Valley and Apulian Acqueduct Cycle Route
Once arrived to the station of Alberobello, you shall visit the UNESCO site of the Trulli. Alberobello is a privileged place to reach the Acqueduct cycle route, an off-road greenway traversing the whole Valle d’Itria. From Locorotondo quiet backroads will lead you to the “white city” of Ostuni on the top a hill and then all the way down on dirt roads towards the sea. The train station is nearby the coastline.
Halfway of your journey, you will deserve a rest day. You may spend it as you like: going to the beach, visiting Matera (we reccomend you an hiking tour) or … just another bike ride.
Gargano, the Sun Mountaun
The fourth riding day begins with a morning train transfer to Foggia (we’ll book it), where the bike-shuttle will be waiting for you to bring you to the Gargano. In the Foresta Umbra our guides will introduce you in the naturalistic aspects of this primeval wood, a Southern wood with Northern trees, bearing a broad network of trails suitable to riders of all kinds. After a cross-country tour, you will get to your accommodation in Vieste, where we dropped off your luggage.
The fifth riding day we will transfer you to a mountain hut up in the Foresta Umbra and show you a downhill track to Peshici and, after visiting the small fisherman’s village, you’ll ride all along the Trabucchi coast back to Vieste.
